“There’s nothing more reliable than a cheap Porsche!” - the old saying.

A ‘weekend car’ or even a DD if the weather/roads/commute justify it for under $6K! So it needs some work after 100,00 miles. BFD. Don’t we all?

Indeed. I was expecting something like this.

The speedometer is not stock. Stock was that weird Ford 85 mph one with hash marks but no numbers taking it up to 140. The 140 mph one installed on this car was available from the Ford parts catalog, but IIRC it was introduced a couple years after this car was built....and it was never stock on an SVO.

They wanted 6 grand more for it than the V8 model when new? This car was a CP when it left the factory.

CP.  $12,500 for a 4 cylinder Mustang is SVNo.

Again, she did not get towed to 184mph. She was towed up to around 110mph to which the gears were more effective for her to handle. After that, the tether was released and she pedaled up to 184MPH.

Not that big a deal.  I had that happen when driving a tractor-trailer that grossed 80K pounds.

Let’s not forget a previous record holder that used a 935 as the windbreak.

You can easily get a 2013-2014 981 for $30-35k with 40-50k miles. The 981 only needs a trip to the dealer for maintenance once a year, so you’re talking $350/yr. Even 20k mile intervals are only fluids and other basic maintenance items. The brakes will likely not need to be touched before he moves on to another car,

Do yourself a favor and at least go drive a 2013-2014 Porsche 981 Boxster. It has the exotic look and feel you want, is the most fun to drive car you can get at almost any price, sounds amazing and can be had in great condition for your budget. That generation has proven to be very reliable, the maintenance is minimal

This too hits the 450+, reliable, manual, exotic looking prerequisites:

33k.

Why do all this instead of just buying a used Porsche Cayman ?

“I wonder how much more a 200HP electric motor weighs over a 60HP model. If the extra weight is under say 50 lbs I think the tradeoff is worth it”

as opposed to the safety and reliability of a vintage car?
