Exactly this. I know he has other credits (from the stage no less), but all those seasons as Garrity makes it impossible to believe him as either a top-notch doctor or a scheming psychopath.

This episode didn't really land for me. This was sort of a prime example of my biggest concerns for the show - Kroll is a masterful impressionist and the sketch ideas are clever, but that alone isn't enough to carry the rest of the show.
Do No Harm - because a cop drama about a guy split between dual realities didn't work for the Thurs 10-slot, now we have a medical drama about a guy split between dual identities. This is totally gonna work instead, good thinking NBC…

Not so - for each flop that had a person with a vision that didn't pan out in the finished product, there are plenty of projects made by people just phoning it in.
