Fair points. I brought up Austen because her novels are frequently dismissed as trifles. But I don't enter an Austen story expecting biting satire or deep social commentary on the times she lived in, I take it on it's own terms.
I don't mean to come across as "bah, humbug," but boy am I glad the holidays have come and gone and TV is back!
I have a friend who moved to Portland a year ago, and then wanted nothing more than to relocate to Seattle. I will have to share this with him…
Kennedy isn't retired - she's made several LOUD appearances on Real Time fairly recently.
Yes, but Scandal has so many other problems with its storytelling, its inability and/or unwillingness to bring up race is the least of it's issues.
Based on every decision NBC has made in the last year, they clearly have no idea how to interpret responses from critics or audiences.
Funny I had a similar thought -
Which venue is this because I want to start attending these shows!
I'd have taken offence to that line if for every comment making a thoughtful, intelligent point, there weren't five more obnoxious snark-for-snark's-sake postings right beneath it.
It's a shared responsibility between venues who allow patrons to get completely shit-faced before a show (esp anything where tickets were more than two bucks at the door), the jerk who doesn't know their limit, and the fool(s) who choose to associate with people who think it's acceptable to spin so far out of control…
An Emmy (and a kid's Daytime Emmy at that) and Cruel Intentions are measures of quality? Oh, darlin'…
Please point to one thing on her CV that proves otherwise…
I have to admit - the first few promos for this show didn't look horrendous. I was even ready to applaud kids who would so readily go out and make their own with a generation so tied to electronics and superficial shiny objects…
I had a roommate from New Hampshire who enjoyed mudding - apparently if you have a jeep and backwoods it's what you do.
@avclub-d980b15d49101608dc407770f35b1d75:disqus - I had the opposite happen in college where my rural Pennsylvanian roommate was shocked that we Upstate New Yorkers didn't have First Day of Buck and/or Doe off.
Fair enough, especially if we're going to hold to "incubator" as a place that birthed talent rather than pooled it for a period of time.
I also enjoyed most of the film, both on the topic of heckling and as stand-up comedy shop talk.
Can we put the Buffy wank aside and just admit that she's not that good an actress?
@zebbart:disqus - Maybe it's a bit of both.
