It's just a shame that such a significant number of people are incapable of "pointing out similarities" without "summarily dismissing a work other people like altogether because it draws on similar themes as a different work, in spite of the latter hardly being the first to use such themes."

Dunst-fication - so Stone has been stripped of actual talent and charm, but grossly over-rated due to a connection with a Coppola?

I've got a nagging feeling more numbers of the queer youth tuned into this than Vito

I agree that the use of past events hasn't worked (I even commented that it's made Will's efforts seem entirely ineffectual), but all too close to real life facsimiles don't necessarily work either.

Can we forget the past four and half episodes and just start from here? Because this was pretty solid, and appart from a few aching flaws I actually really liked this episode.

Made me hopeful that the show might move out of B-grade catnip for those of us who truck in Sorkin-ese to a good-but-not-great HBO show.

I don't know what it is, but I'm just having a hard time mustering any enthusiasm regarding Phelps. I'm not denying the guy's talent, I'm just still exhausted from all the hype from the last summer Olympics.
Also, I'm completely over the "fab five" [gag] girls gymnastics team already.

Exactly this.

Exactly this.

But that's all of sport. I mean think of football (real or the American version) - does the city that hosts the Super Bowl really make out for the better once you tally up all the arrests for drunk and disorderlies, and all the clean-up (heaven forbid there's any kind of riot).

On the topic of cities hosting the Games - the American press is frequently touting Mitt Romney as the hero/saviour of Salt Lake City, but remember the big Republican shit storm when Obama was supporting Chicago's bid?

I agree that the machinations of putting the Games together, as well as certain aspects of the Games themselves, are far from the spirit that's supposed to be at play, and some of it is even down right dirty.

What a bunch of fucking hypocrites - after so much of the Salt Lake City games were turned into a 9/11 memorial you couldn't show a few minutes of an acknowledgement of 7/7?
