Voyager has individual episodes that are quite solid, but trying to consider these characters as people who’ve changed over a seven-year voyage just doesn’t work. The only ones who get any real development are the Doctor and Seven...and they have the luxury of not really being developed “people” when their stories

That’s the episode I always think of when I remember what a badass Janeway is.

Broom Boy’s still out there keeping the thematic triumph of The Last Jedi alive. Anyone can be a hero and a legend.

Well, we can certainly say that The Child is very good at Greef counseling.

Dear Disney:

It’s what I saw. They kept going back (again and again) to the role of Luke being Mythic, and his resistance to accept that role. In the end, he does, in grand dramatic fashion specifically to be the “Spark” to light a resistance. That’s exactly what I saw in TLJ.

Sounds like you didn’t understand the movie. That was very clear

Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), the Sith Lord at the center of the previous two trilogies, is back

I hope he doesn’t remove the helmet, either... mainly because I have such deep respect for how Pascal can *emote* without ever seeing his face.

YES. Just when you thought this show couldn’t be any better. And it cemented my head-canon thought that Baby Yoda’s Mandalorian is a future incarnation of Jason Mendoza.

Was that Pillboi as a villager?!

Yes that’s it exactly! They’re such a specific brand of goofy too, no other Marvel movie has stuff about undercarriage washes or “MY TURN OF THE CENTURY CHANDELIER!”

Very good point. Sad is a much better word. I stand corrected.

Have watched it. Wasn’t as bad for me as for others, I suspect, because I knew what was coming.

You haven’t watched Jurassic Bark... Until the movies I couldn’t watch it more than the first time. Heart wrenching to the max. There’s also a few other episodes, including the most recent finale. Still absolutely love this show.

Also, I totally agree. Futurama isn’t depressing. As an example, the end of the final episode is almost painfully bittersweet and emotional, but never leaves you with a feeling of hopelessness.

Yeah, but I think because that sort of humor is more often cruel and cynical and taking ‘cheap shots’ it doesn’t get inside your guard the way Futurama’s does.

More sad, definitely. Not more depressing. Hopelessness is depressing, and even when sad, I think Futurama is hopeful. Sadness is not depressing; after all, sad is just happy for deep people.

I disagree slightly. Futurama could be much more depressing than many comedies. The dog episode (Jurassic Bark) and the Philip Fry Episode were tearjerkers. That amount of heart made the show special.

The sad things spring from happy things, though. The loyalty of a dog, the love of parents, the cherished memory of a sibling... I don’t remember the cheese hat thing. Heartwrenching, but heartwarming.
