Jesus, David. What was the point of this article, even? That 4000 people happened to click on a facebook user group?

I’m willing to bet half the people in the why I hate ECStuning Facebook group are there out of curiosity. I’m apart of the group, because I just wanted to see why anyone would hate ECStuning. I’ve only ever had great experiences with them.

I guess I’m the exception that proves the rule? I’ve not had any issues with ECS, aside from self-inflicted ones like not checking the in stock status of a part. And every time I messed that up I’ve called them, gotten a real person on the phone in very short order who removed that part and got the order shipped out

This is surprising, I’ve been an ECS customer for several years and have had nothing but great service. The one time out of many orders where I received he wrong part they overnighted the replacement at their cost so I could finish the project.

CEO Imran has been with the company for ~9 months, and much of the positive changes witnessed have been under his direction; previous leadership is no longer with the company.

Additionally, I just got off the phone with them and Matt was most helpful.

I can’t say say my experience has been overwhelmingly awful with ECS. As others have mentioned the shipping costs and shipping time, living on the west coast I got to the point I just expected parts to be there sometime within a week, keep the expectations low. Also if the shipping costs exceeded the cost of the part

Fantastic.... right there is a reason I will return.  It’s difficult at best sourcing BMW parts without going to the dealer and then waiting on shipping puts a huge delay in the repair/project.  Thanks for the reply.

It looks like I might be in the minority but I have never had a bad experience with ECS. They are my go to for things my local euro parts distributor doesn’t have or cant get for my Audis. Same with Pelican for my Porsche parts.

I’m seeing a lot of comments saying “thank goodness we have FCP” so I figured this would be a good time to air some grievances I have about them as well because it’s important to get them out there.

Speaking personally, I apologize to our customers that have experienced delayed or damaged orders, or a lackluster customer service experience. Like you and nearly every employee at ECS, I am an enthusiast and feel for anyone stuck waiting on parts. I can preach the improvements we have made over the past year,

I had no obvious problems with ECS during my few years of BMW ownership.

The most heartbreaking thing about this, though, is that they’ve apparently bought Pelican, which I always felt was better, just in general.

If they’re that bad, how do they not go out of business, but instead get bigger and are buying up more competitors?

Not till the very end of the article it’s mentioned that ECS didn’t really buy Pelican. Instead they’re both owned by the same private equity firm. Huge difference.

I’ve had mixed transactions with ECS. I’ve had glass headlight lenses show up shattered. BUT! They turned around and sent out a new pair without hesitation. Fancy swaybars came poking out of the box with paint scraped down to bare metal. They didn’t care. Shipping is ridiculously slow, even when you pay to have it

Sheesh, I had no idea ECS was so unpopular! I’ve ordered quite a few things for my previous MINI and my current GTI over the past few years. I did notice that my most recent order took awhile longer than usual to arrive, but I didn’t think anything of it.

All my orders from Turner/ECS have been great, never had a problem with them.
