Well, now we are going to see how strong the union is, because GMG is going to try to break it in the next few days. Hopefully the writers for all the Kinja sites stick together, but GMG is going to be trying hard to split them up.

It’s a song about a women who wants to stay and is trying to break the rules of society at that time that wants her to leave.  She is looking for a reason to stay.

Trump is worse internationally because he can unilaterally destroy our foreign relationships, where Pence would at least hold the international alliances together. Pence is worse domestically though, because he would actually be competent enough to move some legislation, where Trump is too incompetent to get even the

They gerrymander districts, intimidate people into not voting, change the rules of who can vote, change the rules on how to vote and just generally try and turn people off from voting. Then, these same people turn around and complain about how divided we are as a nation and ask why we can’t all just get along and

Steyer is really making me re-think my beliefs about money in politics. He is pouring tens of millions of dollars into this race and topping out at 4%. Is it possible that money really doesn’t buy votes?

On the other hand, it’s siding with free speech and democracy over authoritarianism.  Kind of the easiest, most basic test for someone in the free world to pass.

They have figured out that they are above the law since all Congress can do is refer charges to the Justice Department. So, unless William Barr is going to charge them, they are safe.

These centrist Democrats care far more about their wealth than they do any other issue. Do they care about climate change and education and America’s image in the world? Yes, but these are a distant concern compared to money. I really think if it comes down to Warren and Trump, these centrists will decide that having

Look, I hate everything about Trump and will be crying with joy the day he is gone, but Sally Yates was fired because she wouldn’t argue for his travel ban in court. She was absolutely morally right on that, but for an acting AG to refuse to argue the President’s case in court, is the textbook definition of

The thing is, it’s working for him.  He’s moved into third in Iowa at 16%, passing Bernie Sanders in the latest poll there, and the betting money is moving to him actually winning Iowa, which would throw the entire race upside down.

I can’t remember which national security figure on TV said it, but a few days ago one of them said the world has figured out that Trump is actually a coward and will always back down to anything after he blusters, and knowing that, things are going to get much, much worse in the next few months.

I know hypocrisy doesn’t even register at this point, but the people laughing and passing this video around are the same people who were losing their minds and calling for boycotts at this scene when Kingsmen first came out.

Because no one has made a super healthy burger substitute that tastes mostly like a real burger. Until that happens a lot of people are choosing to eat a substitute that is basically as unhealthy as a real burger, but doesn’t kill an animal or hurt the environment. I hope we get to the point where we can eat something

OK, so the US college students will also get a six month suspension right?  If it’s just policy and nothing to do with China, that has to be coming next doesn’t it?

Honest question here: Do the political opinions of people raised in an indoctrinating environment where dissent isn’t tolerated like China matter? When 1.4 billion people are raised to not question authority do we still have to listen to them as if they are coming to this decision of their own free will?

I graduated high school in 2003 right as the Iraq war was starting.  I was so supportive of that war and of Bush, and looking back on it I feel so ashamed by it.  I totally bought into all of the patriotism and supporting the troops.  So I don’t fault anyone else who missed what was really going on at the time.

Maybe this whole Hong Kong episode in history will finally prove to people that corporations don’t care about anything but their bottom line.  All the talk about freedom and democracy and human rights and climate change and living wages and corporate social responsibility and any of the other crap they spew out to

It’s because there isn’t a back on forth on impeachment the way their is on approval rating.  Once someone has made the decision that the President should be removed from office, they never go back on that.  So the numbers only ever stay flat or increase.

The dirty secret of Republican politicians is they really don’t want Roe overturned, they want it as an issue. It gets their base out to vote in every election at every level. If Roe was overturned there would be massive blowback against them and they would lose their number one issue in every election.

I’m not sure if that’s a good idea. They want the Democrats to start throwing people in jail so they can turn and scream to the people that they are the victims. As much catharsis as it would give me to see Giuliani held in contempt and sitting in a cell, I think it would backfire.
