I feel like it would have had more resonance if Community’s “MeowMeowBeanz” episode hadn’t done it first. Not that those ideas couldn’t have come from separate places, but I kept getting the sense that I had already seen this.

Bo Burnham’s* “Eighth Grade”, while of course being almost instantly dated in terms of the portrayed technology, manages (in a subtle way, on the whole the movie is more about adolescence and anxiety than anything else) to capture something very true about the human condition and how it relates to the “modern age”.
