Fun fact: Julián (Despelote developer) is wearing a tshirt featuring the celebration of the goal that put Ecuador in the 2002 World Cup. It was a huge fucking deal back then, it kind of still is.

You are absolutely right. I almost forgot about Excite Bike’s track editor. I think it’s still there in the 3DS version of the game. I should play that again some day.
This reminds me of how my Nintendo DS Lite was primarily (90%) used as a very good kanji dictionary
Faxandu and Zeliard!
One made by Nihon Falcom and the other by Game Arts, both competent Japanese developers who made great games of that era. I think these two games were want Zelda II aspired to be but could not pull it off at the time.
I agree, and I’d like to throw in Faxanadu with that. I love platformers and RPGs, and I think some of those early attempts would do great with a bit of polish. The jump and movement physics of both could use some refinement. The limited text didn’t do them favors either. I still play them every so often cause I love…
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.
It’s incredibly bizarre to me how many people are actually defending this. People on twitter and reddit just keep saying “git gud” when someone brings it up. No one is asking for a quick save so you can reload when something goes wrong or anything, just a way to be able to take a break without fear of losing a bunch…
Hey Ari, I’ve been reading Kotaku for longer than I can remember (2006, I think? Jesus...), and it’s been hard to see so many staff writers I’ve come to love and respect move up and/or on. There’s been a certain degree of anxiety on my part as new writers, such as yourself, replace them because I don’t know your…
Sony has no shortage of first-party talent, but it’s still devastating seeing the breakup of one of their most beloved teams. Guys who touched everything from Ico to Bloodborne parting ways is really, really shitty, especially as Sony refuses to give me a way to enjoy old games (well, Bloodborne is there I guess) on…
amazing dj shadow reference, been listening to endtroducing and private press last couple of weeks....
I lost my mind at seeing Beavis reflected in the mirror instead of Link at the start
Wow, this is heartbreaking news. András was such a wonderful, pleasant, polite, hardworking member of the team. He will be missed.
There’s so much potential for them to blow us away next year. If they release a Switch Pro that could be maybe as powerful as Xbox One S/PS4, but can output checkerboard 4K with HDR, that will be enough for Nintendo to survive a technology gap for a few more years.
This is the year Nintendo lost steam, in the way of software, at least. They had Animal Crossing come at the best time for them, Paper Mario Sticker Star 3 Origami King, before wrapping up the Spring with a hard drought of 1st party titles for nearly the entire Summer. We’ll see 2 games from Nintendo in Q1 2021, and…
Not what I expected (the iconic shriek) but thanks!
If you have any appreciation at all for Nintendo’s brand of whimsy, buy this game. If you bought it on Wii U, buy it again (though you probably already will because the company is kept afloat by fans rebuying the same games at full price, and if you bought the Wii U, you’re one of those people).
So can we all be honest with the fact that a) Beyond Good and Evil, while certainly an interesting game at the time, is overrated and had very little impact on the medium; b) BGaE 2, from what we’ve seen in the trailers with the swearing ape guy, seems to carry over little of what made the first game interesting and…
Sometimes, just sometimes, the world is an okay place.
Super interested the potential of this space.
GingerOfMods says custom jobs like this can run $1,000, but can you really put a price on being able to play Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn on the go
Are you from the future? :o
