That was my plan from the start.

What a great tune, thanks for sharing. Had never heard of them before but will definitely check them out. And I’m guessing Kinoko Teikoku - mushroom Kingdom - is a nod to Mario?

But hey! It’s archived, so you can re-watch it to your heart’s content!

Happy to see news of no PS3 version of this, and that Japanese devs are finally starting to focus on PS4-only versions of its console games, although I realize its also a double-edged sword that ultimately could lead to sluggish sales in Japan. Also, delighted to see it coming to Vita!

The GameCube was very much in the same class in terms of performance specs to both the PS2 and original Xbox. It could be argued that the Xbox won the specs of that generation, but developers were able to create very similar experiences across the 3 platforms. Moreover, this was the last time developers had to

Just an added note on booking last minute at hostels, I had no problem booking one in Kagoshima for a few nights back in Nov ‘ 12 as just a walk-in with my wife (we ended up staying unexpectedly due to a major train delay earlier in the day). So I think some of the more local areas may be ok during non-peak seasons

What was your favorite trailer to work on, and was there a particular “A-ha!” moment to it where it all clicked and felt like the best one yet?

Muchas smooches!

File under Nintendo: Don’t forget Sakurai’s video presentation of Super Smash Bros. content on Sunday June 14!

That sounds awesome and good luck!

Did not he did some tracks with Kahimi! Will definitely have to give a listen; thanks for the tip.

Oh don’t get me wrong, “importing” a game is as simple as texting my mother-in-law in my case. It’s more of the me forgetting the 3DS is region locked frustration setting in as I got excited about the prospect of picking up copies of DQ7 & Bravely Second when I realized I’d have to get another 3DS to play them on. And

Definitely thought about it, but doubt I’d really play it that much. I barely play my current one as-is :/

Still wrapping up Bloodborne (around 70% mark?), revving up my Destiny engine too for House of Wolves to drop. Bum note - really curious to play Bravely Second, and was all excited for a sec that my wife’s family in Japan could bring me a copy when we meet up this month, then I remembered about the region lock >_<.

Hell yeah, I remember the summer of ‘94 vividly as “the summer of MKII”. There were cabinets everywhere, sometimes two or three machines in a single arcade. I remember seeing one at a Tex Mex restaurant in Dallas. Then that summer, Nintendo launched its big “Play It Loud!” campaign with Butthole Surfers and - yes!! -

“Suck it, consoles!” is my new go-to phrase. For just about everything.

As an indie game developer who recently had to explain the aesthetics of our game to a new contractor, I find this slide and graphic incredibly insightful and am now considering putting something like this together for our next revision of design documents. Total bummer about Darkside though :(

The real question is, will there be any references to Snacktaku?

According to The Cutting Room Floor, “NAR” refers to Toru Narihiro, the programmer who converted the game from the FDS disk format to standard ROM. So it’s like, NAR’s Password, so he could get in and debug stuff. The code remained in the final ROM, and there ya have it!

So happy to see a new Japanese indie dev on the scene. I know there's been a growing movement of "indies" in Japan, but I still feel like its a mere trickle in terms of what we see released in the Western market. Will definitely be picking this one up and rotating my monitor!! And hopefully its success inspires other
