Very interesting post - I like these translation / localization discussions! I went on to read the whole article on RPGamer and have gained some good respect for Tom Slattery as a result. Sounds like he had a very interesting gig, including some difficult projects to be working on with Squeenix (FFXIII for example).
Definitely walked back and forth, back and forth a few times looking for this guy. When he finally does show up, it's a good adrenaline rush! He's tough for sure, though I don't know if I've ever done in with the intent to take both him AND Tiamat down in the same trip, since both fights call for bringing out the big…
I know, right? Seriously though, Enough is enough! Peel back that red tape, work out the kinks, and let it happen, cap'n!
Explain that to my NTDOY stock... last year this time: $34 / share. now: $17 / share. awesomesauce!
"The rest of the country probably ran out of fucks to give."
Ah, K's House! Dig that place quite a bit, though some of the collector's games are kinda expensive there. Had a friend that went in there once and stocked up on 20 Famicom carts - solely purchased on case colors alone.
Ha ha, well played, sir. Well played.
Snacktaku = fataku
Liked how Mario called him "squeaky". Reminds me how every time Toad back in the old school SMBSS cartoons got stepped on / fell / etc. he always let out a squeak-toy sound effect.
Fuckin' A. So good for th' freelance right now..
He does great custom work, too - if you wanted a different Legacy of the Wizard scene, he'll do it. Had him make me two custom Faxanadu paintings for a close friend, and he totally nailed 'em. Same price as standard works.
Man, this game is absolutely great! I played it with a 360 controller and the dual analog makes perfect sense here - one stick for boy, one stick for Choppy. Played it through to the end and really enjoyed it. Controls would work great in an arcade version, I know just the place to put it...
Not sure about the keyboard. It's A on the Xbox 360 pad, which makes perfect sense. Kid is left stick, Choppy is right stick. Would work really well in an arcade setting.
Ahh man, yeah that grapefruit mint is the bomb. But I will continue to play dumb and call it "zylish"... because that's my style-ish.
One of my favorite onsen trips was to Shikaribetsu-ko in Hokkaido, which is a temp. hot spring set up ON TOP OF A FROZEN LAKE. You change inside an IGLOO, hang your stuff up and then haul ass to the two bath tubs. That was in the dead of winter, too. So it's freezing out, with snow coming down, and toasty as hell in…
Everyone in Japan — enjoy! Can't believe how early they came here in NYC this year - mostly at post peak now.
That makes perfect sense to me, especially when I think about the consequences of not doing that.
I really want to replay this but only own the Japanese version of it, where sailing is a mind-numbing experience (it seriously takes so much longer to get anywhere). i'm also banking on the fact that this will indeed be re-released before too long... it just has to.
Mario Plumbing? Sure, I'd give it a shot.
