Yep, they are one in the same — its become somewhat of an inside localization joke at Nintendo, apparently. It actually stretches across multiple Zelda games (and instruction booklets as well; he was Terry in the Phantom Hourglass manual but Beedle in the US release of the game).

Not Beedle, it's Terry, the Japanese name for Beedle

Ha, I have to agree here! Was trying to avoid watching too many preview demos of the game, but if Shiggy's talking it up, I'll always listen.

No doubt, happy to try the single player out finally!

Yeah, that kind of spoiled it just a tad...

Or Ctrl+Z, when you hit a tight pack of traffic and wish you had gotten off at the exit you just passed.

(sorry if this shows up twice; the first time I sent it disappeared...)

I'm part of that 72% and say that I don't think it hinders gameplay, or at least have yet to experience it. I would add that I'm in the population that continually adjusts the 3D depending on my setting; half of that is due to the fact that I commute to work via subway, where its very easy to lose the sweet spot. That chain-chomp beach ball is boss! I'd sport it / come up with new games for it. Ruff ruff!

Personally, I just want to see them pass the reigns back to Retro, and if they can't do it, then maybe WayForward can.

I kind of doubt this, considering Gunpei had long left Nintendo when he passed away. I'm not sure how he would have been involved with this project.

Nice nod to Trash-80 at the end! Dig.

The song "Mother's Meat" by Dead Rider is killer! Just saw them the other night at Cake Shop in LES and they put on a blazing set for a low turnout Monday night. Really cool dudes.

Ha, awesome! These guys are regulars on the L train... I think they live out here in Bushwick.

Never too late to start learning, just gotta take that leap (for me, I found it in the course syllabus during pre-college). Tons of resource and interactive materials out there for getting started, from videos to audio to more. Best of luck!

Excellent article, Nick, and from one Japanese speaker / student to the next, much appreciation for the original Japanese here.

Agreed - the dungeons felt tedious and it was the first time where most Dungeons felt like something I had to schedule into my day. "Yep, I'm gonna need the whole evening to take this one out." But not in a good way...

I laughed at your joke about the XL being large enough for two sticks. That gives me the idea to go to town mocking that one up....

Sadly, the massive spell book tome is for the DS version only. (It's an amazing book though and glad I picked it up!)

I'd recommend to anyone stuck in the original Zelda games to play along with a map. Don't really need a strategy guide until perhaps later in the game and you can't figure out how to get ____, but playing with a map could really help out in some situations.
