I’m not going to claim that she’s been a perfect CEO, but the company’s stock price has tripled under her leadership, which probably explains why she’s getting $150m from being bought out of her stake in the company.

Normally, I would agree, but I don’t think it’s applicable in this case.

I think the X-Files is like a lot of old shows (I’m thinking of SNL in particular) - our memories of the good episodes are so strong that we forget all the bad stuff. This results in us thinking the show was better as a whole than it actually was.

I think there are a lot of abuses people will take and adapt to so long as they are doled out in pieces. Do I think there will be some kind of terrorist incident that will throw the nation into chaos and allow a theocratic government to take over? No.

That entire shot from the side of the ambulance was very carefully framed, although I think you can see the feet of whoever was responsible for closing the back doors.

More likely it has to do with local network affiliations. The local ABC, NBC, Fox, and CBS stations in the five cities they launched in are all owned and operated by the bigger network. So if you make a deal with ABC, you have a deal with all of its owned-and-operated local affiliates as well.

When I canceled my cable television three years ago, we were paying $180 per month for TV and internet. Since then, internet service has increased $15/mo, so we would be paying $195/mo now. Plus $10/mo for Netflix, that’s $205/mo total.

Because they still make a good amount of money from selling individual downloads/physical media. If they let you download everything they put on streaming, they’d end up losing money.

Counterpoint: Laundry is the ultimate man’s chore: It takes forever to accomplish, but the actual amount of time invested in working is quite minimal.

Except here’s the problem with your choice. While you may be perfectly happy with your low-premium, $10,000 deductible plan, let’s say something truly catastrophic happens. Not catastrophic like, “I broke my arm,” but catastrophic like, “I have cancer” or “my kidneys are failing,” something that will easily burn

Kobe Bryant scored 55 points in the second half of his 81 point game and took 12 of his team’s last 14 shots, including a pair of threes with two minutes left while up by 15 points.

And she cleaned up thanks to him. $40+ grand.

He blew it again! It was a crossword puzzle (every word fills in the blank of sticky _____). Every letter was filled in except for the first letter of _icket and he guessed “sticky picket.”

I do the same, though our taxes are relatively simple (typically just W-2s, a 1090-INT, the standard deduction, and the student loan interest deduction).

If you have a public library in a rural or less-populated area, there’s a good chance that its broadband internet service is being paid for, in part, or in entirety, by the IMLS. Hell, I live in a city of almost 400,000 people and they pay a lot of the cost for our internet service.

Or not even to the north. We were predicted to get a huge ice storm, like you say. They shut most things down for the weekend, and then the temperature line kept us just above freezing the whole time so the ice turned into rain. Meanwhile, 150 miles due west, they got this.

The whole point of insurance is shared risk. As an older person, you may not need prenatal or maternity care, but you definitely need prostate cancer coverage, an affliction which strikes about 6% of men in their 60s but only about 1 in 10,000 men in their thirties and no women. So my wife and I will gladly pay for

You’re wondering how a $90 router stacks up against one twice the price? Probably not great. Even the Amazon page will tell you this isn’t great for online gaming.

I can’t speak to all of their furniture, but our current coffee table is a Target piece I bought for about $40 a decade ago and it’s still in pretty decent shape. If I had cared for it a little better in grad school (a couple of stains, chips, and the like), it’d still look really nice.
