Had she said “as I am a white woman” rather than “as I am a woman”, I might have cut her some slack. Black, hispanic and Asian artists rarely escape having their ethnicity noted. But her cluelessness about one area where she’s very privileged persists. Her original statement was “distorting the truth”.

This headline is a generous lie.

That’s exactly the issue with this apology. She doesn’t seem to realize what was wrong with her first statement, or why she got the backlash she did (even though it was made pretty clear).

The other day I took my kids to this homeschool thing at the local science centre. It somehow attracted the more umm...stereotypical homeschoolers that everybody here hates. That’s not usually how it is at these things.

Well I do believe kids need to build their immune system. This can be achieved by playing in dirt, being sick from time to time, but vaccines are there to help. If I have kids, I will vaccinate. Sorry, you can't build an immunity to polio.
