@compro01: That's what I tested with. The internal wifi on my laptop went out, so I had to get a wifi adapter. And standing outside the door, it sees the signal, but can't connect. The signal is too weak.

How about lowering the power on your router? I have mine lowered to where I only get about two bars at the extremities of my apartment. Outside? Forget it. Not enough signal strength to connect.
