You are right to worry about someone messing with the jack while you are under the car, but, two words, jack stands, don’t crawl under your car without them.

I get US bashing, but this doesn’t really apply since diesels worldwide were affected and US owners make up only a fraction of that share. So, the “dumbest” country found out the discrepancies with one of the smallest sample sizes.
