Well, that, and that's probably not the way most Muslims in the US live anyway. A lot of immigrants specifically came here specifically to get away from that stuff.

Turns out there is no such thing as rock bottom, huh?
Well, yeah, but what lesson should they take it from it? Damn the torpedoes, full socialism ahead?
I think the castle makes sense. Look at it this way: it's not just the place where Anakin Skywalker got his ass kicked. It's the place that Darth Vader was born.
That's surprisingly few, considering.
Except Lion.
Anyway, slaves generally weren't the ones holding the guns, though. Or in this case, magic swords.
Ehh, maybe… but progress isn't necessarily linear. Especially in this country.
So you're saying it might be coming.
Don't you mean, six-thousand-year-old immortal alien women with hyper-advanced technology who saved all humanity before the dawn of civilization? Don't you think that might've skewed things away from traditional gender/racial relations, even back then?
And that's another thing. Was kind of hoping the Gems' influence might've nipped slavery in the bud in this timeline.
Pffff. Sugar Mama? Nice.
I thought it was hilarious.
Bull! Betsy Ross made the first move on *Rose*, thank you very much! Rose was the innocent one!
Because the Gems aren't citizens (at least according to Pearl.) If they were involved in the founding of the government, you'd figure some kind of accommodation would've been made for them.
Also, man did this episode ever push some limits. Good for them, and good for Cartoon Network for backing it. (I'm kind of amazed there aren't conservative parents' groups up in arms yet, though… eh, crap. Did I just jinx it?)
Well, that blows away my theory that the Gems had something to do with the founding of the United States. (There's a gem on the back of the $1 bill in the show. That has to mean something.) Dammit. And I really wanted to see a flashback episode featuring Rose and Ben Franklin…
Huh. Weird.
So interesting thing — has Connie actually run into Ruby and Sapphire before this episode? I presume she might pick up on who they are from Steven through the fusion link…
I picked up on that. But honestly, I like the fact that they left it ambiguous. If the show's from Stephen's point of view, it'd make sense that stuff like that would go straight over his head.
