Depending on the victim and depending on the perpetrator. If the rapist had been a Black kid I doubt the judge would be so worried about having to impose the mandatory minimum.

I will never get used to judges and sheriffs being elected officials in some part of the US.
Well, he was stuffing a pillow into her face... maybe that’s why he couldn’t hear her screaming NO.
Had a case in my state where a white guy violently kidnapped, raped, and beat an intoxicated Indigenous woman. The white male judge let him skate. But Facebook remembers and he got lost his bid for re-election when story made the rounds again. I don’t know what is done in Illinois, but if they are elected, then that’s…
Am I the only dad in this thread? If this happened to either one of my girls, there is no place on the planet this kid could go to get out of my reach. This kids life would be over. Period. What he did to my kid would haunt him everywhere he went for the rest of his life.
Per the judge’s statement; the drinking age is 21, and the raping age is 18.
Transcript of an actual conversation with my mother in 2021.
I mentioned this in the other thread, but the fact that the only acknowledgement from the judge of the girl was to bring up swimming in her underwear and drinking alcohol continues to blow my mind. It is just... I mean if that judge decided to do this, it would have been so easy for him to even offer lip service…
So many things to unpack. Our country has such a fucked up approach to alcohol, adulthood and/or accountability, and sexual assault. It’s hard to know where to begin with this one. What I do know for sure is that this dad rules. Here’s to normalizing speaking up for the mental health of your child without some…
Yeah, I guarantee that if a boy had been drunk, jumped in the pool in his underwear and woke up being raped, this judge when throw the book at the rapist. The fact these old-school POS people treat the crime differently depending on the victim proves they aren’t fit to do these jobs.
This is one of the more sickening, heart wrenching situations. Something’s not right with that judge, he needs to be removed. And maybe punished for his fucking stupidity.
I feel like the greater concern is that by reversing the conviction, the rapist now has no record. This asshole should carry a sex offender status so that everyone knows what kind of person he is.
Why are old men still hanging on to the “Well, you dressed a certain way/acted a certain way...so you deserved it” paradigm?
The question is, what is going on/has gone on in Judge Adrian’s life to make him side with an attacker like this? Empathy is instinctively biased. It’s all about who’s shoes you can place yourself in. Why does this judge identify with the attacker so much?
Thank you for covering this story and bringing it to national attention.
If Drew Clinton got the shit kicked out of him, I wouldn’t shred a tear.
Soooooo Cameron going swimming in her underwear and drinking is the problem, but dude raping her isn’t?!?!? Make it make sense, Judge Dumb Fuck.
What’s the emotion beyond “FUCKING FURIOUS”?
“Underwear is not the same as swimming suits. It’s just—they allow 16-year-olds to bring liquor to a party. They provide liquor to underage people, and you wonder how these things happen.”
Unfucking real
