I look for components that I can adapt or modify. I use 3D printing frequently. Sometimes I make parts using common tools in the garage. In this case the prototypes were made from balloons purchased on Amazon, o-rings purchased from an online supplier, tubes from Alibaba, and a coupling printed on an Object 3D

$15 includes shipping, so we are close to $10 MSRP. Our expectation is that the price would come down over time. We want everyone to feel like it's a good value for the amount of fun it provides.

We are continuing to evaluate this idea, but the answer so far is that transportation costs and energy are greater than making new ones. Or another way of looking at is that is exactly what we are doing we just have it melted and pelletized on the way back to the factory (if you discard it in the recylcing bin).

We do have a lot of fun, but you look at some of the crazy and fun DIY stuff on the web, and I have a lot of competition.

I think this may turn out to an educational project for a lot of people. It is great that there is a heigtened awareness of taking good care of our environment.
