It is absolutely a dismissal if you’re talking about sexual abuse and a man dismisses your concerns for your safety by saying “men can be raped too.”

It can be used as a silencing tactic by the more disingenuous, which is what ULH was saying, not that it’s that by default.
We absolutely should acknowledge male survivors of rape and sexual assault, and the acknowledgement in itself is indeed not a dismissal of female victims. It is, however, far too often used that way by people who do not actually give a damn about any victims, male or female, but just want to shut women up. Both of…
Victims can also perpetuate rape culture, and Gaga is a prime example of this: she still supports abusers, victim or not.
We must not talk about this issue with the same people. Almost every time I bring up sexual assault, a man tries to dismiss my concerns by mentioning that men are raped, too. And they never care about male victims, of course. It’s just a go-to rebuttal that attempts to shut women up.
And yet she’s still friends with/defends/supports Terry Richardson. He’s the very definition of a ‘missing stair’ person and yet people still clamour to work with him.
Why can’t you believe it? She has recently worked with both Terry Richardson and R Kelly. One blows his load on young models, and the other pees on underage girls. For her to suddenly be the voice of sexual abuse survivors is just laughable.
she worked with terry richardson again this month. she stays working with abusers and rapists. actions speak louder than words!
Well, they at a least squeezed one token dude in there.
I found it annoying how disjointed his monologue seemed and how he only spoke about black people - as if black people are the only ones suffering from discrimination in Hollywood. The last time an Asian Woman won an academy award for acting was in 1957.
i mean the ending was nice when he got real but i just fucking HATE this whole ‘dont be mad about this because things used to be worse!!!’ ok???? that doesnt mean things are great? and youre telling me there arent really important black issues today? ppl may not be getting lynched but they are getting shot and black…
Maybe I’m just in a sour mood, but I find this too depressing to even be funny. They’re pretty much the two most well known black women in the world (okay, maybe she’s in the top five) and someone can’t tell them apart, when they don’t even look at all similar.
My biological mom had pregnancy psychosis when she was pregnant with me and tried to kill herself after I was born. I really doubt women rub their hands like Mr. Burns and plan to wait to have a late-term abortion out of wickedness.
Not if it isn’t available it isn’t. If you don’t have the money for it, there’s nothing you can do. No amount of will is going to magically give you $1000.
But TN does NOT give out pills, nor do they make it at all easy to get an abortion. The lack of appropriate availability isn’t an accident. Tennessee has been busily working towards this outcome for some time now.
actually, given mandatory waiting times, finding travel to and from a clinic (and possible multiple trips; see ‘mandatory waiting times,’), financial burden, having to take multiple days off work, possibly having to find childcare ... it’s not. safer and less painful, yes. but easier? not by a long shot.
the question of viability is not that simple. The injuries and side effects caused by such extreme prematurity are profound, and life expectancy is short.
Cremation or burial? WTF? Shit’s got more fucked up since last I checked.
There is going to be a rise in the number of cases like this due to the limit in access to abortion and birth control services. More and more women and girls are going to attempt self abortion. Making it harder for women and girls to get abortions won’t stop them from doing dangerous and risky things to get one. Even…
Fuck. That lady needs...support, not prison.
