One word: volume. People are lining up to buy the Model 3. Over 400,000 people, actually. By the end of next year a good portion of those will be on the road. Also, with the Supercharger network, the Model 3 (or S or X) can truly be your only car. Neither of those things are even close to being true for the Bolt.

Unfortunately, the kind of jobs you are talking about are all but dead. Not just in the U.S., but worldwide. Low-skilled manufacturing jobs are quickly being replaced by automation. Any new factory being built today will be highly automated. Why would manufacturers pay a person to do a job that a robot can do better…
