I liked it but i felt the shoplifting plot could have gone a little further and the band plot was just filler for the main plot, didn't really feel like solid B plot material.

That is spot on. Seth defiantly hates his own creation. I think he was thinking ' maybe if i do this for a few years i can move onto better things' he even says in the quote he's only keeping Family guy going for the fans. I think he and his team are trying to make viewing figures drop by making the show as unlikeable…
