I was in 5th or 6th grade when that came out. I couldn't understand why George Burns wasn't being funny. But in watching it a few years later in high school, I saw the brilliant performances of the stars. (Burns, Art Carney, and Lee Strasburg). A well done remake with your list of actors would be most welcome, as

I agree. The scenes the reviewer points out as being particularly heinous are apparently ones that are ripped straight from the book. Bryson is a writer who uses sarcasm and snark to hide his own vulnerabilities. If the movie comes close to that, I'll be fine with it.

I would add Steve Martin at the Hollywood bowl…possibly the first 'comedian as rock star' performance.

Chris Knox—"Instant Mashed Potato 2" and "Instant Mashed Potato" from Songs of You and Me.

I agree. It's seriously underrated in the annals of spoof/parody films. Samuel L. Jackson shows some serious comedic chops, as well.

This movie is responsible for turning me on to Leonard Cohen, among other things. I knew who he was because of his appearance on a Was (Not Was) album, but I'd never really listened to him. So there's that.

Ummm…horror comedy has been around in film for at least 30 years, and has even been explored on TV before. The Canadian show 'Todd and the Book of Pure Evil' is horror comedy at its best. Please tell me your second paragraph was sarcastic.

On a related note, JJ Abrams does a spot-on Woody Allen imitation. He did it during his interview with Jon Stewart last Thursday on the Daily Show.

I figured…and you're right—Mills has more influence here than since the early days. Buck, I think, was getting more interested in playing with Robyn Hitchcock and others…so he became less musically dominant.

You mean post-Bill Berry. He left because of medical issues, but Peter Buck was with the band until the end.

2 minutes. Also, a waste of the opening riff to Bash & Pop's "Making Me Sick." Unless that was a subliminal message to the viewer.

I do not trust Breuer. Only Bear.

"Do you want me to pretend now?"

Astro City, Martian Manhunter on the DC side. Waiting for Nova, SHIELD, and Avengers to come back for Marvel. All good stuff. Waiting on trades for Saga. Also, the Morning Glories Omnibus. Wonderful, twisty, horror-sci-fi. And, of course, Bloom County.

I'm really enjoying these vids. It shows that he's still holding on to the bits of the character that kept the Report so appealing. The well-meaning self-centered guy who nonetheless really wants to understand the world better.

Oh, I'll still mock Wesley Crusher. But Wil Wheaton is a class act.

I love Neil, but these days he only approaches greatness when he's playing with Crazy Horse. Presumably because they've known him long enough to call him on his bullshit when something isn't working. That said, he's the artist and he can record anything he wants. That does not mean I have to listen to it.

I was 12 when that season aired, and what little I remember of it is not very good. I remember a Weekend Update segment called "Leather Weather" that I just didn't get but left my mom horrified (it was a BDSM thing) and I remember the opening of Elliot Gould's show with him in bed with the cast (I only knew him from

I was just coming on here to mention that…the only thing I remember from it was the 'note' to Cochran claiming the LA Rams did it on their way out of town to St. Louis. I'm pretty sure there was even a diagram.

I'm a Parklife guy, myself.
