There was a computer game called Privateer 2 that had a cast for the video cut-scenes that any movie would have killed to get : In addition to David Warner, you had Clive Owen, Christopher Walken, Mathilda May, Brian Blessed, Jurgen Prochnow, John Hurt, David McCallum…

I always had him as Dr Doom to Archie's Reed Richards.

30 years??? You've heard of the JSA/JLA crossovers from decades before that, right?

Does this mean Citizen Jack is over? There hasn't been an issue #7 for some time, but I just thought they were consolidating following the end of the (excellent) first arc.

Have a read of William Goldman's chapter in 'What Lie Did I Tell?" on his original attempt to script the movie for Harold Ramis and Chevy Chase. Its hilarious and depressing at the same time.

Alan or Robin?

Laura Linney is (without exaggeration) IMHO the finest actor of her generation.

Yeah, I don't remember Scorsese using that excuse.

DiCaprio is not a perfect actor, but he is second to non (among the top level) in seeking out interesting non-sequel / non-franchise work with top-level talent behind and in front of the camera. For comparison, look at Will Smith : freaking movies about aliens, robots and time-travel over and OVER again.

I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed 'The Water Diviner'.

Providence by Moore / Burrows is not for everyone, but it captures the creeping dread of Lovecraft perfectly.

Yes to this. I still remember at the end the exchange when Cresswood and her offsider are calling the students "Losers" and "Troublemakers", Deaver counters by saying "They're just kids."

I watched this movie (on my second-hand VHS) around 30 times. Heck, I still remember the previews : Hudson Hawk, Mel Gibson's Hamlet…

I still remember watching "On Deadly Ground' in the cinema where Seagal literally flat-out murders Michael Caine by causing a cable to drop him into oil (don't ask) but presumably he's a hero because he didn't 'shoot him in the back'. ???

I was reading through the comments, desperately hoping that someone hadn't posted that quote yet…
Well played, sir!

I must admit, I enjoyed the hell out of 'Loaded Weapon 1', maybe because I'd been raised on the movies it was parodying.
"Quid pro quo, sergeant."
"What the hell does that mean?"
"It means I'm pretentious."

From memory (in the ROTJ novelisation), I think that Owen Lars is also described by Obi-Wan as his (Obi-Wan's) brother.

The Return of the Jedi novelisation was amazing, and I absolutely read the crap out of it as a youngster. The train-of-consciousness stuff of Luke while he is being led to the Emperor and while they are talking is awesome.
The Lethal Weapon novelization was also fantastic.

I still defend Daredevil (particularly the Director's Cut) in every comment section where it is used as an example of a 'go to' bad movie, or bad comic book movie. And this is from a guy who owns around 200 Daredevil comics.
