If you peruse any of the independent reviews of the new Genesis or even the message boards, in addition to seeing a lot of former BMW/Benz/Audi owners, all saying “they’ll never go back”—you’ll also see a fair number of former owners of Acura, Lexus, etc. ....basically all the well-established Japanese…

Love it. Still interested in hearing what the “real world” fuel mileage is like (something around 24-25 mpg highway would be lovely), but from what I’ve seen so far, I think she’s a real looker.

I’m not entirely sure what “male privilege” is, but I suspect whatever it is, it isn’t fair to the female. I also suspect there must be a “female privilege” which is equally as unfair.

I sometimes have the habit (a “bad”one, I’m guessing) of shifting from R to N before coming to a complete stop, wherein I then shift into D. To be clear, I’m only changing into D when I’ve come to a complete stop.

I hate to admit it, but you’re probably right. I can pretty easily run 3-4 miles on the ‘mill, but if I drag my arse outside, it’s a whole different ball game.

Your grandfather is/was a very smart man ;) I have a good recipe for Irish Stew which uses it, too. It just adds a lil’ something special to anything with beef. Oh, and incidentally, it’s also great to drink with these meals, too....haha :)

Yeah, I had heard that, as well; I just don’t know if that also represented U.S. market buyers as well—or perhaps BMW made it so cost prohibitive it simply wasn’t an option for most.

Well, keep in mind that “value” is relative; a good friend of mine just insured his ‘80 Scirocco through one of the aforementioned carriers....it’s costing him less than $300/year for agreed value which—in his case anyway—is about $10k. Hope that helps...

I can’t speak to registering one of these cars since every state has completely different laws, but can tell you that stepping up to a insurance company which deals in high-end, rare vehicles (e.g., Hagerty, Chubb, etc.) would be the way to go and—assuming you’re not using yours as a daily-driver—would likely cost you…
