I have a sinking feeling, that even if this movie is horrible, like beyond Manos, Hand of Fate terrible, too terrible to be a cult classic even. It will still get amazing reviews everywhere from Rotten Tomatoes, to professional movie reviewers, just out of fear they may be called sexist.

Nobody cares about SA anymore.

I think you drastically misunderstood the point of my comment.

Yup, and wtf is up with mentioning his race every three sentences? Admittedly some of the instances flow with the description of the man, but more than a couple left me thinking “what does it matter if he’s white?” You hit the nail on the head.

Yeah, you said in every direct or indirect way possible that he was sexist, which is a form of bigotry, dumbass...

[blah blah blah he’s a “dudebro” blah blah] “... If people like AVGN don’t want to be called sexist, they might consider going after all hollywood sequels, not just the ones starring women.”

Jesus, I’m so tired of this reductive bullshit.

This is quickly becoming our reality. Criticism has become harassment and is inherently sexism. Safe spaces have taken the place of freedom of speech on college campuses. Dissenting opinions have become triggering because people no longer have the backbone or strength of character to deal with someone disagreeing with

it really is a shame how much shit he caught for the Ghostbusters videos, especially when you watch them, and he just calmly discusses why he’s not into them.

No, not liberals, morons. The sheer number of times the other side has called a liberal a communist or socialist as though it were still the McCarthy era is proof that both sides are fully capable of being dumb shits. Stupidity knows know political boundary.

Right, because that’s totally not a thing on the other side of the political spectrum (see: RINO; SJW). There are extremists on both sides but namecalling gets us nowhere.

I noticed that too. If the subject of the article was black and the author kept pointing it out, despite the fact that said subject’s output is completely unrelated to issues of race, people would be getting uptight indeed.

It should if you have half a brain. He’s a person, his name is James Rolfe. The author wasn’t pointing out his skin color as just an observation, there was an agenda behind mentioning it, and that’s wrong to do, no matter what color someone’s skin is.

Not only that, but the two videos he made don’t even come *close* to touching on the sexism point. It’s never brought up, never hinted at, never discussed. I’m honestly flabbergasted that people can say “you’re being sexist” with those two videos.

I’ve been watching James for his entire ten year run. I’ve watched everything he puts out, Monster Madness, Board James, James and Mike Mondays, and even the horror films he made when he was a kid. After a decade I still get super excited when I see a new AVGN video in my feed, and have a viewing party with my friends

Following the Nerd, there is now a sect of voices on YouTube whose platform is entirely based around angrily criticizing what they view as “social justice”-infected media, often decrying when creators try to increase diversity, if not openly standing against critics using a feminist or other political lens.

Someone didn’t read the article.

Like the dumbshits that think “lmao” is a word?

Skipped right over Silicon valley and ended up in jersey. Amazing work here!

I love AVGN. Mostly just the AVGN videos but sometimes I watch the Mike and Matt Mondays. I’m a subscriber but I don’t watch everything everyone that I subscribe to puts out. That’s an option. I didn’t know he made a statement about the new Ghostbusters movie but I don’t see anything inherently wrong with saying it’s

I like how you're making race an issue by repeatedly pointing out that he's white.
