The pot is on the wrong burner to begin with. Should be on the back (smaller) burner that is sized properly for that size pot.

Don’t forget that you can make your own vanilla extract. Get some vanilla beans and put into a jar with your alcohol of choice. Give it some time and you will not want for store bought vanilla again. Just google “make vanilla bean extract”.
