I think such is true of the extreme in both sides. The right hasn’t celebrated its victory, and is still claiming to be victimized by the left.

Most people see themselves as moderate. Very, very few see themselves as extreme anything. They also view themselves as tolerant, regardless if they are or not. Because if those two definitions there is always a pushback when the culture gets too progressive or too conservative.
