The EV Tax Credit isn’t a 100% sure thing though, is it? It can potentially reduce your tax liability, but may not apply to your specific finances, and you are still paying/financing everything up front. It’s a potential credit after the fact.

I put my snow tires on mid-November and take them off late March/early April. That’s when we get snow more often in upstate NY. I don’t have them mounted on rims. It costs about $100 - $120 for tires to be mounted, balanced and installed esch time.

I don’t think the comparison should be defined solely by price. It’s a big vehicle - larger than a Toyota Camry - for a modest price.

Neutral: Klaus (my 2018 red SportWagen) just had his NYS Inspection and winter tires swapped out for his all-seasons yesterday. He’s great, but could use a good spring cleaning. He’s at almost 23,000 miles now (I got him in April 2019).

Affordable is subjective. There are a lot of people that cannot afford “the average new vehicle at $47,000" link and never will.
