it's a double-edged sword. place the technology too up-market and you won't gain a foothold in the market; over time the brand will erode as it becomes more-and-more a symbol rather than a product. This kinda happened with the price point of the volt, and would've been worse with Cadillac leading the herd.

I've been back on my feet for 5 years, and don't get me wrong - I think about this car about once per week - it was a great car. but insurance was insane. gas was insane. it just doesn't make sense to own that car, at least for me right now.
go over to ecomodder and read all about people doing all kinds of crazy electric conversions. And they're much more willing to share their good and bad experiences both so that others can learn from their mistakes.
