There's this monetary point, somewhere around $6,000-$8,000, where below you can find reasonably interesting & unique cars in decent condition that have good "value", and above which you start to find "bankers" and "doctors" speculating on nice vehicles by paying what the rest of us would consider "too much money."

Although this isn't big money, you're going to be spending double that each year in gas and insurance for any car from this era if you make it your DD so you better make the right choice. $3,500 is a wide net to cast in the pre-malaise era of American metal; I'd want to reel in a Cadillac or Lincoln personally.
