A lot of these studies are probably bullshit that they linked to... “kids from poor communities are more likely to have asthma” they blame that on pollution.... did they cross-reference smoking family members in that study? Did they reference how many people in that community are running older cars that naturally put…
It’s funny. I never get these types of comments when I write about the disproportionate impact of enviro policy on coal workers and the rural poor in WV or MT. What is it about centering people of color that reads as a distraction (“pollution”) to some commenters? Do you care less about pollution having read this,…
The funny thing is the emissions from the cooling stacks at power plants is mostly harmless water vapor. Not smog and smoke as depicted here. That’s occurs at coal/petroleum/natural gas power plants.
Alternate headline: Administration That Bitched for Eight Years it Could do Things Better Can’t Actually do Things Better
I am quite familiar with science; I have two advanced degrees in the “hard” sciences, and I can tell you that you can bend and coerce data to say anything-freaking-thing you want it to. You’re being played for what’s been termed a “useful idiot” (not my term): somebody who can be manipulated and scared to then vote…
Yes I think if you are going to use stats like that, you should have a basic understanding of them. It’s a bogus number. It was not 97% of scientists. It was 97% of scientists who basically make a living talking about climate change. That’s not exactly impartial.
because 97% of scientists disagree with the basic premise of the article? For perspective, I dont think 97% of scientists agree on what gravity is.
Take off the echo chamber earmuffs, sperm-brain. There is no consensus. There is active debate. You just don’t like the fact that other humans have the right to disagree with your favorite fan fiction. Enjoy the better farming. Here’s hoping California sinks into the sea with all you mind-numbed whineybabies still…
I went to Hawaii once. Because of that, I am an expert on volcanoes.
How do you know they’re lies? Last time I checked you were a desk monkey with no investigative capability.
This article is painfully hilarious. She just glosses over the fact that this thing has been “irreversibly” melting for thousands of years.
I was watching Drain The Ocean on National Geographic last night. “Problems” such as these become trivial once you realise how much land, sea, and ice is underneath our views of 2/3 of the Earth. Sea level could rise 100' or drop 1000' and we’ll still be fine. All of the arguments over climate change has nothing to do…
So, it’s been melting for 15,000 years and now it’s finally melted?
I flew over an iceberg once, and when I looked at it out the plane window, I noticed that it did not appear to be melting. And so I ask, have any of these so called “climate scientists” actually ever even been to an iceberg?
You really do a disservice to your argument when you throw around terms like “the great barrier reef is fucked.” Im not arguing the point or even disagreeing but it really seems an unprofessional way to write.

You’d need the House of Reps to do that, and it ain’t happening anytime soon. There needs to be something sufficiently bad discovered in order to motivate the most of them to start the proceedings, and you’ll never get it out of the current bunch of reps as long as the public isn’t incensed enough and the discovery…
It’s almost like I started hanging around here because they used to focus on a certain set of content and I’m displaying my displeasure at their slow spiral around the bowl.
