some of the jokes, even the names, were just over my head. Hexadecimel, Dot Matrix, etc. I knew they sounded computery but I didn't understand the reference as well as I do now.

Ok, so I didn't seen it, so I'll give a shout to two things.

I think garden variety terror is a nice step down from Toy Story's usual kid-flavoured existential dread.

They need to create these Toy Story shorts in the same way Futurama needed to work its way around Jurassic Bark's ending.
