One sad correction: The last Hitman game was not successful (despite being quite good!) and thus Square Enix cut ties with the developers and it nearly killed the franchise.

He’s wearing camo in that picture so he’s getting into character, clearly

It seems like there are a thousand food-focused verticals that have come out the oven over the last year or two, and not even general ones - there’s a site whose name I forget that just publishes personal essays that relate, even tangentially, to eating breakfast. Is this some sort of post-SEO gamed-advertising

It’s sort of this fandom in a nutshell that Stranger Things’ actual strengths, that is, romantic / cathartic metaphors for the dramas of youth as filtered through a hundred saccharine references, are not quite as anticipated as the show’s anemic universe-building. The

*LOU SPOILERSS** I couldn’t disagree with you more. The final sequence was the devastating grace note, the final touch that shows just who Joel is.

The violence in The Last Of Us wasn’t justifiable because Naughty Dog was particularly somber or serious or particularly self-aware or even because the game was well-crafted, but because it was absolutely vital to telling the story of Joel and his journey to realizing his true nature. All of the brutality of the game

It’s just a little airborne

If you don’t count the female characters then sure

Penny Dreadful was too good to capture the zeitgeist

Don’t worry, we’re probably headed for at least an entire season

Eleven wasn’t really important to the story of this season but people still would have complained if she’d appeared to be as left out as she actually was.

Please don’t “analyze” this show, people are trying to enjoy it

I’d call this post a great example of speculative fiction, but per Le Guin spec fic describes what is, not what could be or could have been

They’re not wearing overalls without a shirt so I don’t know where this is coming from

That’s not fair, both Fargo and The Leftovers are playing the same game as ST. Where the Duffers ask “hey, remember the Goonies? Remember John Hughes?”, Noah Hawley and the Lost dude are all “hey, remember the Bible? Remember the essential existential meaningless melancholy of life on earth?” Totally the same

I mean, it will. But should it? Everything about the episode suggests not. Who gives a shit about superpowered children who aren’t El? Who wants to leave Hawkins to go on an adventure in a 1980s city? It’s like they don’t know what’s good about their own show.

You just know it’s going to turn out that Eleven isn’t actually suffering any sinus trauma when she uses her powers, it’s just that this is an anime and she’s extremely horny in those moments

Okay that rules

I actually kind of enjoy that “it’s fine” is the refrain among stans re: this episode, because it’s the sort of thing you can easily envision someone saying as they’re struggling to look happy after stepping on a fresh turd

It’s impressive how Stranger Things is about this, despite Eleven being not in any way part of the season 2 story until the last episode
