The question here is wether or not one thinks that this project is good for the surrounding community. If the answer is yes—which is what I’d argue, strongly—then tax incentives are a fairly standard ask. Good luck finding someone who’d be willing to rehab that train station without some buy-in from the local

Ugh. This response is such garbage.

No, you’ve got it right.

The local Perkins/Sit Down family restaurant has a coloring contest for children every month. The winner gets a free Beverage. Does Perkins now have to give away free beverages to all entrants?

No, because even the children know that not everyone wins.

I must be getting old because I remember when companies would run contests like this with the idea that your submission MIGHT make it into the game/show/book/whatever. And IF it did, you were just happy to have something you could brag to your friends about.

Is it bad that I want one? If I can only have one vehicle (because I live in the city and parking is a PITA, for example) and I have the need for a large vehicle (kids, pets, back issues, etc), I don’t see why having a fun, sporty CUV/SUV is a bad idea.

The ST brand is not some old school, highly storied badging that everyone recognizes. It’s just a performance trim on some of their vehicles. Now more of their vehicles. On the Ford buyouts, I don’t think it’s accurate to say they’re “cutting 15,000 jobs.” They’re offering voluntary buyouts to 15,000 people, with the goal of having 1,400 actually take the buyout and leave. If you’ve got 10 people doing function X, and you think you only need 9, you can offer all 10 a buyout, and see

They’re only missing a few minor players, like GM, Toyota, Ford, VW, Honda... you know. Small guys who are getting started with vehicles and manufacturing.
