Some people aren't too into the vocals, but I think Britt has the right amount of marbles-in-the-mouth sneer. I was initially drawn to Spoon because they have this Motown approach of instrumentation and songwriting that's filtered through early Costello New Wave while still sounding relevant and modern.
This record is a solid A for me. Love at first spin. Highlights are for me "Rainy Taxi" and "Outlier" although "Do You" is fuckin great.

I really enjoyed that one. There is a great live DVD of that tour available. They bring out a bunch of horn players to play charts Toussaint wrote,—even on some old tunes. I remember really liking the version of Clown Strike updated with horns.
