I always thought it was a bit wierd that Franco-Belgian comics never made ot big in America (except in Quebec, I guess) with the exception of Tintin and to a lesser extent Asterix. Were they too cerebral? Too anal-retentive on the detailed art? Too long? Too slow in the plotting?

Did you ever watch Pitch Black or (to a lesser extent) the Riddick movies? As campy as some moments can be in that, Vin Diesel is clearly in his element and having a blast making them.

It’s a real shame Mr. Diesel doesn’t get the attention and respect he deserves outside of the F&F franchise. IMO, his heart is totally in sci-fi/fantasy, and he’s not playing it up for geek cred... he genuinely loves this stuff. It’d be great to see him move beyond Riddick in the genre, and not just as a voice actor.
