Yes, I know he did the LN adaptation. He also wrote a whole lot of things that were not like Utena at all, so it’s not like it’s a given that it takes so much from Utena’s first episode. And looking at the OP, even that has Utena references all over it. It’s getting really annoying because at this point I really don’t

What you and Elon are basically saying is “Ukraine should just give up and give Russia what it wants.” If you don’t see how fucked up this is, and how this is a Russian talking point, I really don’t know what to tell you, only that 1. the world had this exact mindset back a few years ago when Russia annexed Crimea,

Again, that’s cool and good to know, but it’s not something you know from the show. In GoT Dany says something along the lines of “dragons can’t be killed by fire” referring to his brother not being a “real dragon” by which at that point we can only infer “a real Targaryen”. Then we see her surviving fire. At this

It’s here, it’s queer, it’s shamelessly plagiarizing the premise and even the exact beats of the first episode of Revolutionary Girl Utena... I had fun with this episode, but the show not acknowledging Utena in any way either within the episode or in outside materials (interviews, etc.) is really irritating,

That maybe so in the book, but in the show it’s all white hair all the time, look at this episode with all the family together, all white hair except for Rhaenyra’s children. Also, again, where are all the white haired commoners who are, or whose ancestors were, bastards of the Valyrian nobility? (Yes, I can come up

I thought that being fireproof to some extent was part of her family heritage, I thought it was even mentioned in GoT at one point. And in HoD in the first episode there’s a very deliberate shot of Rhaenyra (I think) dipping her fingers into flames without even wincing or anything.

The white hair being a Valyrian thing makes more sense, but regardless the genetics of it just don’t add up and that’s a problem when white hair is an important plot point. If the white hair genes are dominant how come both Rhaenyra’s kids have dark hair when she has white hair? How come there’s not lots and lots more

Viserys has kids with a non-whitehaired person and they have white hair. Going by what he said about him and Daemon banging every woman in Westeros I’d expect a lot more white-haired common people, and yet, there’s none. Biology works in convenient ways in this story.

I’m streaming on a mid-range 24" DELL monitor, and everything is perfectly visible for me.

I’m watching this on a cheap and mid-range 24" computer monitor, and looks fine to me, not too dark at all. It’s the same with all the other shows and episodes where people are complaining about the picture being too dark.

OK, so I realized I just don’t get the biology of this family. The proof of Rhaenyra’s children being illegitimate is that they don’t have the Targaryen white hair, right? It’s treated like this unshakeable proof, because Targaryens have white hair because inbreeding and whatnot, dominant genes, etc. OK, fair enough

I don’t much care for the show - I’m not a fan of Tolkien or LotR in general, and on its own as a fantasy show it’s ridiculously beautiful but also ridiculously terribly written (the dialogues are mostly horrible, the storytelling is the opposite of organic). It’s mostly harmless, though.

He’s indeed a big TV actor with the best name recognition of anyone in the cast, and he’s been cast on a show that is closely tied to one of the biggest TV shows ever (regardless of your opinion’s on its quality), and that has extremely good chances of becoming a huge hit. I’d assume his agent is not an idiot.

And you say that based on your knowledge of... what exactly? Or you have any info on his salary for this show?

Or maybe I don’t. I don’t really care tbh, I’m here for the show and only the show. I’ve a long enough reading backlog as it is.

Calling it now: Daemon will marry Rhaenyra at one point, and then he’ll die because Matt Smith is probably too expensive for him to come back for season 2.

I assume this time it’s going to be Daemon.

I don’t live in the US either, I’ve been using MFP for ages and I haven’t seen a single ad - because I use Blokada on my phone. The one time I opened MFP with Blokada turned off it was unusable due to the sheer volume of in-your-face ads.

MyFitnessPal is shit, but it’s the only app I’ve found so far that is not hopelessly locked in US/UK databases, which is important for someone like me who is not in the US or the UK.

Same, I think just two more episodes or so would’ve helped a lot.
