Never said in my comment that Japan should dismiss anything. I was making a comparison between eastern and western rpgs and my take on them. Don't know why your comment is lashing out at me, when I think I expressed my ideas quite calmly and specified them as an opinion.

Which is exactly what I love about JRPGs. Even though I can enjoy Skyrim and most western RPG's for a while, eventually I lose interest because the stories never feel as solid as jrpg stories. Seldom do they grip me, or keep me invested in the characters.

I can't grasp whether you're angry at Roger Ebert for his opinions, or angry at Dark Souls being touted as game of the year.

Point taken, racist is the incorrect word in this case. But prejudiced, biased, comes to mind.

Well, if what I've read on several reports about what Jonathan Blow said, supposedly that Japanese games were "joyless husks", i certainly wouldn't think that he was very courteous, and of course I fully disagree with him.

Well, to be fair, whenever somebody attacks whatever genre/developer/etc, a discussion starts on the net regarding different points of view, opinions, etc. With defenders on one side, neutrals in the middle, and attackers on the other.

But you don't have to say he said something racist, for people to "believe it". Because in fact, his reply shows either stupidity, racism, or both.

I never cared for Minecraft, and didn't even know about the Notch case. I'm sure that there are a lot of people out there that don't know as well, so I don't think we can really establish that there is a double standard.

AAA Japanese titles usually get the hair and clothing (and eyes) almost perfectly. Just look at the latest Final Fantasies. Or Soul Calibur! :O

It is not a fact that JRPGS suck right now, that's just your opinion. *My* opinion is that some suck, some are great.

Very few people knew the name Phil Fish before today. And today, we all know that he represents a racist prick. And an asshole.

Point taken.

Oh! That would be a great one. I can sense the lulz!

This, good sir, is the one obvious fact that most of us 'till now had totally forgotten about. I mean, weeks of illness and possible death are definitely worth a banging with Shepard, I'm sure. But risking all of that for a picture?????!!! A picture!?!??!?!

Nope, you're not alone. I really enjoyed The Spirits Within. Have both the DVD and Blu-ray and it still looks as amazing as ever (as in, it has aged extremely well). Did it feel like a Final Fantasy? Of course not. Does that make it crap? Totally not, imo. The story was interesting, serious and sad. I enjoyed

Except even if they did everything suggested here, media and jrpg haters would crap all over the franchise, once again.

If you want a reason why Bioware is drawing so much hate recently, you can look to Bioware *and* Electronic Arts.

And just like that, goodbye intentions of buying a tablet, Hello Vita!

Oh...wow. If this is true...... just....wow.

And that's the thing with opinions...they can be so different that none can be stated as fact.
