Season 2 ended with a pair of episode that seemed to soft-reboot everything, killed off characters who weren’t working and resolved a ton of plot lines to re-center on Abbie and Ichabod awaiting fresh adventures. Season 3 didn’t deliver on the promise and was just disappointing.

Doubt it. The showrunners fucked up the dynamic of Abbie and Ichabod by introducing literally any other ridiculous storyline they could think of to fill out Crane’s life and history while sidelining Abbie’s and Nicole Beharie wasn’t here for it. Adding insult to injury (all of Season 2), was the decision to not invite

Yeah, it felt a little like someone at the end of season one went “wait, we have too many black people here, how did that happen?” They sidelined Capt Irving, and Abbie in favour of Henry and Katrina and Hawley, and brought in Joe. Henry may have been a fun scene chewing villain, but Katrina never gelled. Hawley was

She was the lead (or at the very least co-lead)

This is the only place I’ve visited where people seem to be ok with Nicole leaving because she wanted out, without actually paying attention to the reasons that happened. She was the lead (or at the very least co-lead) and she was treated like an extra on her own fucking show. Good for her for standing up for herself

Ever since the show treated Frank Irving/Orlando Jones so badly in season two, I’ve waited to watch episodes until a few have aired. Thankfully I’ve continued that into this season. So:

Actually, they killed her off because the actress wanted out.

I’m at a genuine loss when i try to figure out why they didn’t max the Abbie/Ichabod dynamic (I’m basing this on what I read online, haven’t caught up since a bit of early S2).

The Abbie/Ichabod wasn’t one of the cornerstones, it was THE cornerstone of the show as evidenced by how mediocre the whole thing was whenever the two of them were not on screen together. While watching, I just assumed that either they are being cancelled or the beginning of next season would be about bringing Abbie
