Honestly the Persona titles are set in the same universe, with some characters and references scattered throughout linking them all together. Even though they’re in the same universe though it’s not necessary to play all the game or even any of them as their story is usually completely self contained.

I think they wanted to stay true to the series, meaning just keep the esentials and don’t add in “fan service” parts when they’re already strapped for time. I mean it’s a big fricking game, just the first quarter is longer than all these movies combined.

Me too, P3 was the JRPG that got be back into JRPGs. Since then I started collecting both Persona and SMT (the series it came from) titles and pretty much enjoyed every game aside from the Ultimax fighting spin-offs.

Go ahead and watch, the films don’t cover everything that’s in the game of course but they do a great job of adapting it. Although I’d still suggest picking up the FEZ edition of the game as that is still the definitive version and will give more story; the Persona titles are the best JRPG’s for nearly 20 years after
