“And believe the Sith are such ‘rule followers,’ do you?”
“And believe the Sith are such ‘rule followers,’ do you?”
“Unanswered in any of the Jedi movies, or any material I’ve seen is any explanation for why the Jedi can have hundreds of practitioners, but the Sith always have a master and an apprentice?”
“If the most consistent criticism is that “it’s too much like A New Hope”, then the truth is that you have something great”
“Our new Chosen One is a woman, who seems like the least consequential of the new characters when she’s first introduced (all the story beats up until she touches Anakin’s lightsaber seem to point toward Finn being the protagonist.)”
No they don’t, these “new” characters are blatant rip-offs of the original cast.
“People really to analyze this movie better.” Shouldn’t that sentence read -People really NEED to analyze this movie better?
“ No matter how much the 7 or 8 percent of you keep stomping your feet and insisting TFA is a disappointment you will remain exactly where you are now - the marginal 7 or 8 percent”
“As if they wanted TFA to be like the Star Trek reboots and deviate from the core “being” of the franchise.”
“When he was “praying” to Vader to show him the Dark side, because he felt the Light trying to pull him back, when it was mentioned by Snoke that Kylo was conflicted, and, obviously, the bridge scene.”
“All that and Anakin came across as a sad mopey twelve year old.”
Yeah and explain to me the real human emotions that gobbledygook is supposed to convey.
Kylo Ren is 29 to 30 years old. His conflict as far as it is explained in this movie is an obsession with Vader (so he’s a Star Wars Nerd?) and the stress of being sent to Jedi Boarding School.
That’s not the problem, as an audience it’s more fulfilling to be shown something than be told about it. Like Han being Kylo’s Father we are told he’s his father but we only get one scene of them together and they don’t even directly discuss their relationship.
He’s an idiot he literally throws his gun aside to fight a former Stormtrooper with a lightsaber (considering Finn thought Jedi’s were a myth there’s no reason for the Stormtrooper not to shoot him).
“In my mind, a reboot would only be if they made exact copies of Luke, Han, Darth Vader, et al”
So a PR specialist put this together not some Pats Fan? You’d think they would leave out the “the stories are all true” line considering Deflategate, spygate etc.
Not in ANH obviously but ROTJ is based around Vader’s conflict. Not everything has to be said. Most ROTJ is pretty messy but that scene with Luke taking off his Dad’s helmet (his father having returned to the Light Side) is awesome.
“It was refreshing to see that the Sith (or, just Dark Side users in general) can have the internal conflict to switch to the light... just as the Jedi are constantly fighting the urge to switch to the dark.”
Yes but I use the example of Napoleon (and it applies to someone like Pompey the Great as well) intentionally. He comes to power as much because the old leadership has died and or defected, as he does because of his own talent and ambition. It’s important to remember that the First Order is a small remnant of the old…
Doesn’t that assume that he has a replacement? Rey?
