Wants something decent sized, won’t cost a lot to maintain and fix, must be able to drive on roads of all condition, wants to drive fast.
Came here to say the same thing. Haven’t been to Russia, but CNG cars are common in Eastern Europe so my guess was the CNG tank went off.
Boise, the land of the Braden Bryson Jaycen Brycen bros.
I couldn’t access the entire report without paying, but I was surprised to see how they interpreted the data. First of all, most people aren’t interested in a car that won’t work 1.3 days in every 10. Second, how could they not include some baseline calculation for range loss due to weather and time? I bet the actual…
This was a great video. For those that didn’t watch it:
I don’t see anything on this car that the competition doesn’t do better for less money. You could get a Panamera S E Hybrid for $30-$40K less, that will out-perform this in every metric except electric range (and looks). Spend $125,000 on a Tesla and you’re in the P90D with Ludicrous mode.
I’ve rafted that river on a few occasions. Where do they do the jet boat races?
I’m going with some sort of inter-species action. Maybe what if a human and car were to breed, how would the physics work and how would the biology play out. The cars might be biological/mechanical creatures, like the borg.
My faith in Jalopnik has been restored! Thanks, Fath.., I mean Jason.
Bye Doug.
It’s hard to tell with all the camouflage, but I’m sensing the design language as heavily influenced by this:
Aaaaaand here come all the people who are going to convince you how it’s safer to speed.
I used to live there. It’s the only place I’ve seen a Bugatti Veyron in the wild (I think that was 2007, the first year they were out).
COULD have... but it wasn’t.
I think another thing to note is that a lot of cars like these are owned by people with so much money they buy this stuff and mostly forget it. It becomes part of the “portfolio”. In a sense it’s illogical, but it also helps them to diversify investments.
While I respect that people can do whatever they wish with their own cars, my opinion has been basically the same as yours. Cars are a poor, poor investment. Not only do you have to pay to store and maintain them, but the market is HIGHLY volatile.
This is pretty much Musk’s MO, he has been calling out shitty reporting for a loooooooong time. And I’m sure journalists like to stick together, but you have to realize that stories like the one you mention have can absolutely have a negative impact on his company, which is pretty much his baby, his wife, and his…
I’m interested to see how all this technology holds up over the lifetime of the vehicle, especially with Mercedes’ reputation for electrical faults. I’ve looked at 2 used Mercedes recently (an 07 E350 and an 03 E500) - both had various electronics failures.
My college roommate had a 2000? Cavalier. By the time that car was 5 years old it looked like he had driven it to the sun and back. The interior was ripped, cracked, and torn, the clear coat was peeling and nasty. It shook like hell at speeds above 55mph. Just a horrible, terrible, no good car.
