The problem with that is if the video evidence is inconclusive then they have to leave it as the call on the field. So the official needs to make their best call in the moment. I agree with the original comment (raising your hand to signify your call, but don’t blow the whistle to allow the play to still unfurl).

Not trying to knock Machado he’s awesome, but Mookie Betts was a career 2B moved to the outfield just before his big league debut in 2014 (arguably a tougher transition than SS to 3B) and is down right ridiculous in RF leading the entire league in Defensive Runs Saved.
