They say Dora can skin a man in 30 seconds flat.
They say Dora can skin a man in 30 seconds flat.
Isn’t Dora suppose to be like 8 in the show? This seems a bit too like they are trying to be “realistic”. I bet Boots and Swiper only talk in a hallucination brought on by eating some fermented fruit or some such silliness.
Not a swear, but a response to it: Flanders’ “no bible stories for you tonight” is one of the most evergreen methods to shutting derailing an angry tirade that I've personally come across.
Stop being friends with them
I loved Ragnarok the most because Waititi recognized that a premise as absurd as a space god on what is basically Planet Hulk should be taken to its full, absolutely illogical conclusion.
“I literally still argue with a friend who says Logan was a bad movie.”
Your friend is dumb and his parents (and children, if he has any) should be ashamed to know him.
As much as I love Holland as Spiderman, my love of Spiderverse may mean that it’s my absolute favorite Spiderman movie and probably up there with only Dark Knight and Logan as the best comic book movies. Man, that movie is just amazing.
Taika did such a great job of reinvigorating Thor that part of me wishes he could go back and remake the first two movies, especially Dark World.
Thor: Ragnorak is my favorite superhero movie of the year personally. It’s so damn impressive that in one movie, Taiki took the blandest, least interesting hero in the MCU and made him the best part of it. Of all of the original Avengers, Thor is the one I most want to see stick around for more movies in Phase 4. I…
How can this article not mention the wildly insane casting of Ares, the epic Greek god of war, as a middle-aged British man with a silly 1910s mustache. Everything about it was silly as hell. I kept expecting David Thewlis to morph into literally anything more threatening but instead they just gave him a silly CGI…
What a fantastic year. I haven’t seen WW, but Logan, Thor:Ragnorak, and Spider-Man:Homecoming remain among the best comic book movies of all time.
I think that’s one element, but another is that Wonder Woman’s central thesis (that War, as an external force embodied by an immortal god with an absolutely fucking ridiculous stuffy-old-man moustache that has no business being in flashbacks from thousands of years ago, is really behind the evil in all men’s hearts)…
I’m absolutely certain the only reason the didn’t set it during WW2 was to avoid Captain America comparisons.
I admit that I do think turning the Germans into the ultimate evil in WWI, when they really were not, was weird. I actually assumed that the story took place during WWII for the longest time because it fits so much better.
It was only when reading the section on other movies for 2017 that I realized just how many truly great comic book movies came out that year.
I really liked Wonder Woman, the only DCEU I can say that about. 90% of my enthusiasm for the movie is Gadot, who is just so perfect for the role, it’s ridiculous. If only the climax had been better, instead of devolving into what I call “the typical superhero shit,” it would have been one of my favorite movies of…
Completely agree with every one of your points (can we be besties IRL?). Gadot, bless her heart, delivers lines like she’s reading them for the first time. In acting school. That said, with WW it’s hard to yuck someone’s yum, given how f*cking overdue a female-led superhero film was.
I think it’s up in the air whether the DCEU has been ‘saved’, to be honest; they’re still making DC movies, of course, but if we’re honest they were going to do that anyway, and it’s very very noticeable that they’ve really been downplaying the “extended universe” aspect at lot, recently. They seem pretty clear in…
It’s interesting that the “other things” section makes it abundantly clear that while 2017 had several much BETTER superhero movies than WW - which I largely think, I’m sorry to say, is relatively mediocre in terms of plotting, writing, and acting (and CGI), although it has some VERY good scenes (Gadot’s “Christopher…
