@wjglenn: Agreed. I'm a software developer. If anything, I need 3 monitors; one for code, one for a debugging/version control/project explorer, and another to view my application when it's running.

Sorry, but that's ridiculous. It isn't about pixels. With multiple monitors, it's about the ease of use. Dragging a window to another monitor, being able to maximize it there. Using one monitor for one type of task and another for something different. It does make a big difference when you need to be able to look at
