I’m no City official, but even I could look at a permit being submitted by a group of Nazi’s and think “Hmm, should prolly call over to the Police Department and see if they’ve asked for some back up.”
It seems to me that the city knew but the police were plainly sympathetic to the white supremacists. Most who saw how restrained they were in the face armed — armed! — nazis wouldn’t recognize them as police at all.
I cannot blame the ACLU doing what they are sworn to do in this tragedy like Gov Mcauliffe has. The blame for the violence and deaths rests solely on the shoulder of the Nazis and other white supremacists. Not the ACLU, Not Dodge and certainly not on the counter protesters.
