This is my concern, whether Trump endorses/campaigns for him or not. There are a lot of Republicans who don’t like Trump but who will find DeSantis a whole lot less objectionable because accomplishes the same hateful agenda that Trump and the base wants, without saying the quiet part out loud.

I didn’t get there that fast, but yeah, I assumed most post-apocalyptic stories get around to cannibalism eventually. Once you read The Road or watch the movie, that thought is never really far from your mind when you consume apocalyptic fiction.

Particularly right now in this crazy car market that isn’t getting better anytime soon, new cars aren’t as much of a scam compared to used cars. I would love to replace my current car, and I’ve been casually looking around for a used hybrid. I like the Kia Niro, but honest to god, a 2018 Niro with about 40k miles is

This seems more likely to me. I mean, what kind of coup is an employee going to undertake, and from the restroom no less? Like, are they going to walk up to Musk, pull out the last remaining stapler on the premises, and demand to be made CEO while Musk is at the urinal?

I read a piece of DeSantis last year that argued that his appeal outside of Florida and a very Trumpian base is pretty slim, and that winning a general election would be difficult for him. That said, I thought the piece generally underestimated how well DeSantis has taken the Trump playbook and run with it. He’s good

Well, I’m dead. That killed me and now I am dead.

I would watch that.

I am still trying to understand why game is so scarce for David and Co. Like, it’s not keeping me up at night or anything, but in this hypothetical world 20 years after most of humanity has been eliminated, the animal kingdom should be doing pretty well. With the cordyceps plague, most animals’ natural predator

I agree that one episode more might have been to its benefit, particularly after reading what chimicanga said about there being a part of the game where Ellie and David fight infected together. I think you could have taken this eighth episode and split it into two, the first establishes David’s gang and lets Joel heal

Yeah, my complaint about this episode is that David and James did a pretty good Doctor Evil routine, consistently placing Ellie in situations where she could escape. Oh, we’re going to butcher her, let’s leave a bunch of knives lying around within her arm’s reach. Surely she won’t think to grab the cleaver. Do we

Yeah, that surprises me, too. Also that anyone was shocked by the cannibalism when Ellie discovers it wasn’t paying attention to the earlier parts of the episode. It was pretty clearly telegraphed, from the “venison, elk,” and “it’s not code” exchanges between David and James, it’s pretty clear that they are talking

The whole time during that final scene of their reunion I was screaming inside my head, “OK, but GET OUT OF THERE YOU FOOLS! PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE ON YOUR TAIL!”

I did a quick poll of all the women I know who watch The Last of Us (I am also a woman) after reading this line in the review. Not a single one of us got “gentle” and “fatherly” from David from the get-go. Creepy and manipulative, yes. Sinister but trying to hide it, yes. But not sincerely gentle or fatherly.

I really do love Sam so, so much as a character. He earnestness is refreshing, and his subtle ways of commenting on the whiteness that surrounds him is awesome. His jokes about colonialism (season 1 when Ted gives him the army man, season 2 when Higgins asks what Christmas reminds him of) struck me as audacious then

This trailer had the feel to me of what you would get if you asked an AI “make me a spy series trailer.” It covers all the familiar bases, but nothing feels unique or like a real hook into the series. Maybe the series will be better, but the trailer doesn’t leave me hopeful. Which is sad, because I like Stanley Tucci

Also more Zoreaux (that guy has such a watchable quality) and more Jan Maas with his (completely accurate, in my experience) Dutch bluntness.

Yeah, I think a far more realistic ending is having Richmond hang in the Premier League and Ted goes back to Kansas to his son (I think we can all agree that’s where Ted is headed eventually, right. He’s too good a man to stay an absentee father). If that happens, then give the viewer a flash forward to a year or two

I was disappointed in season 2 at first viewing. I re-watched it in February in advance of the new season coming out, and some things have risen in my estimation while other things remain really problematic. Things that I liked better on a second watch:

I can’t remember exactly how it went down in the novel (I think there were six and one guy left the band early on and died in Vietnam...I think), but the series gives us five original members of the Dunne Brothers band—Billy (lead vocals), Graham (guitar), Chuck (bass), Warren (drummer) and Eddie (rhythm guitar)—and

I think it’s the best audiobook I’ve ever listened to. Just a perfect combination of format and cast. It’s so well done.
