The Irish goodbye is truly liberating.
The Irish goodbye is truly liberating.
Ohhhh, I like this idea. Stealing it.
The Skimbleshanks number is maybe the only really outstanding part of the movie. Why? Because the performers are on time with the music, which is not the case for most of the movie. In the other numbers, Hooper let the actors set the tempo and then had the orchestra try to match that afterward. This is ass-backwards,…
I would pay good money to see your Cyrano adaptation.
I love Michael Keaton and I’m looking forward to Dopesick after having read Empire of Pain earlier this year. I know that Dopesick is based off of a different book, but the broad topic is compelling. I hope the miniseries is good (Empire of Pain is phenomenal, btw).
Funnily enough, I went to school with a girl who later dated Justin Verlander just before he got together with Kate Upton, so you may have noticed my classmate. I didn’t know her well, but she bore a striking resemblance to Upton. Verlander apparently has a type.
Our pumpkin crops look good, too, here in Ohio. What has shown that there is a problem is the price of canned pumpkin at the store. It more than doubled last year, which was another bad year, weather-wise, and hasn’t come back down since.
Followed by a weak semi-excuse for his actions: “She also adds that she doesn’t believe Thicke ‘would have done this had he been sober.’”
I so wish the show had done more with Jamie’s arc this season because it’s clear he’s working to understand himself more and to grow emotionally. That really could have let to a more organic moment where he declares that he loves Keely, but goes on to realize that maybe he’s not in love with her so much as he’s…
Yes, like you I see Nate’s problem more as one of entitlement and ego than of toxic masculinity. Toxic masculinity may play a part, but I think arrogance and ego are much more to blame.
Yes to all this. I would like to see your Season 2 of Ted Lasso, because this has been the main issue all along. The show has lost both it’s center and it’s balance. Whether the writers like it or not, it is a problem that a central conflict doesn’t clearly emerge for the viewer until episode 11 out of 12. Season 2…
Yeah, out of context it can be very difficult to recognize celebrities. Our brains just aren’t programmed to see them “in the wild.” Plus there is a big difference between a celeb’s look when they’re working and when they’re not. Many look surprisingly ordinary when they’re not made up. I apparently walked a couple of…
It’s not just you. I mix drinks all the time, and I sort of checked out of the recipe above with all the modifications. Mostly I checked out because I like the standard Gold Rush fine enough, and if I experiment, it will be swapping out one ingredient for another in a straight 1:1 switch. I’m too lazy to make and…
This graphic has been all over my facebook feed the last few days, and I don’t find it particularly compelling, in part because even if you can work from anywhere, the trade-off in quality of life when you move from a blue state to fucking North Dakota or the like is basically a dealbreaker, electoral politics be…
You’re a cyclist in SoCal, so forgive me but I’m going to assume you’re white. How many of the “nicest people” who helped you in the South do you assume would have stopped to help you if you were black? Therein lies the rub. There are tons of people down south with good enough manners toward people like them, but who…
Bingo. I had the same thought. The DA is a cyclist or is close with a cyclist. Meanwhile, the cops are the guys who buzzed cyclists as teenagers (or who still harass cyclists as adults), so to them this is all a bit of harmless good fun that just—oops—went a little awry and you can’t really blame the kid because how…
He probably has college aspirations in so far as he knows that’s what is expected of him and what he’s entitled to, but he doesn’t really have a motivating reason why he wants to go. So he’ll also expect to do no work when he gets there. Any teacher who challenges him or pushes him will be a heinous bitch out to get…
Having a the space to have a chest freezer is really one of the only redeeming things about living in suburbia for me. We haven’t been hit as hard by the insane rising prices of groceries because we can still shop the sales and stock up. So when chicken breast goes on sale for $1.79/lb, we buy a shit ton and freeze…
Yeah, last year canned pumpkin disappeared from our store shelves in April (what can I say? I’m a crazy person who makes pumpkin pies year round). It didn’t reappear with any consistency until right around Thanksgiving, and even then it was about double the price of what it normally is. The prices are still high. When…
Yeah, this. I’m in charge of the at-home stuff while my sister takes her kids ‘round my neighborhood, which is better for trick-or-treating then hers. Last year we set up a table down the driveway with candy, and I sat up by the garage and got to see all the kids in costumes. It was great. I made a pot full of spiked…
