A Plug-in Hybrid fits this bill nicely. You can probably travel around town or nearby areas within the range of the battery and you have essentially unlimited range for the longer road trips you need to take.

If your power grid is down, your gas station won’t be able to pump gas either, without a generator. But if you have rooftop solar and a battery bank, you could run your house and charge your car. And if you have a Ford EV pickup, you could run your house for days off your EV, even without solar.

Not to mention that…

What would make a ton (well, a bunch of tons, since large EVs are sorta heavy) sense would be to be developing a utility vehicle skateboard chassis platform. The e-Transit van, and the Lightning, are electrifying an existing ICE-driven platform. But there’s a lot of volume, and a lot of money, in large utility…

By next gen, I feel like they mean it’ll be a bespoke EV instead of being based on a conventional platform as the Lightning is.

The key is, they didn’t provide their own video evidence of their crimes.
